Participatory Budgeting Project (PBP) Resource Library
The Participatory Budgeting Project (PBP) empowers communities to decide how to allocate public funds. As part of their website redesign, I led the development of a robust and user-friendly resource library to make PBP’s wealth of tools, case studies, and guides easily accessible to a diverse audience of organizers, government officials, and community members.
The Challenge
PBP needed an intuitive, searchable system to organize and display a growing library of resources. The challenge was creating a streamlined user experience for a wide range of users while maintaining flexibility for future growth.
The Solution
Custom Post Types
I developed a custom post type framework on WordPress, using Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) to create flexible and modular content fields tailored to PBP’s needs. This structure allowed for simple management of diverse resource formats while ensuring that PBP staff members could add new resources easily.
Smart Filters
To enhance usability, I implemented smart filters for intuitive sorting and search functionality enabling users quick access to relevant materials.
Custom Templates
I designed custom Elementor templates for each resource page, aligning with PBP’s brand and accommodating resource-specific details ensuring a cohesive visual experience across the library.
The Outcome
The resource library is now a cornerstone of PBP’s website, providing users with a fast, intuitive way to find the information they need. The system supports PBP’s mission by making their resources accessible and scalable for future needs.
