This is a painting of Jerry Orbach as Lenny Briscoe. A character I love, played by an actor I love. He was on the original Law & Order series, a series that I will stop and watch whenever I can find it. An episode with Lenny Briscoe is a special thing indeed. No one delivers a line like Jerry Orbach. They gave him all the silly one liners he could handle, and I can never ever get enough of them. The character was deeper than his jokes though. In every episode, Jerry Orbach gave Lenny Briscoe such depth and complexity, it is a joy to watch.
I have to say though, that I love Jerry Orbach for more than this one role. He was an amazing singer, and he starred in numerous broadway shows. I must also mention how much I loved him in Crimes and Misdemeanors and Dirty Dancing.
He also wrote poems for his wife everyday. They were published posthumously in a book that is now out of print. There are screen caps all over the internet though. I found these on Birth Movies Death:
